Estudió en la St. Martin´s School y en la Taylor´s School, para licenciarse en Filología Inglesa en la Universidad de Londres, enseñando dicha materia en la St. Gregory´s Roman Catholic School de Londres durante siete años, dedicándose posteriormente a la escritura a tiempo completo.

Sus libros más conocidos pertenecen a la ficción histórica, con más ficción que historia, mostrando una excelente y entretenida narrativa. Junto con su hermano Hal, ha escrito libros juveniles, que fomentan la imaginación y la aventura.
