Esta primera mitad del año no ha sido sencilla para Sony, quienes están en una reestructura total de negocios, eliminando las divisiones que no funcionan, o bien, ya no pueden mantener. En febrero conocíamos que Sony ponía a la venta su división de ordenadores VAIO, y posterior, hacía lo mismo con de la tienda de libros electrónicos, tienda que abastecía de contenido a sus Sony Readers y la cual fue cerrada en marzo de este año. Ahora Sony anuncia que deja por completo el negocio de los e-books, abandonando la fabricación de sus lectores electrónicos.
