Era unha vez un lobo tan preguiceiro que, por non se esforzar, non comía máis que papas de arroz. Un día mirouse no espello e, ao verse tan fraco, decidiu converterse nun lobo feroz…

Moitos daqueles relatos de animais que aparecían nas primeiras compilacións de contos rusos remóntanse á época en que o home cazaba para subsistir. Mentres os homes cazaban, as mulleres contaban historias sobre animais, nas que se gababan as súas habilidades e astucia na loita pola supervivencia.
Estas narracións acerca da maña dos animais foron transmitidas durante séculos con inesgotable optimismo, e utilizadas como un instrumento para a educación estética e moral.

Pese á ambivalencia de Loboferoz e dalgunhas pasaxes do relato enxergamos o pouso cultural latente na historia, nalgúns detalles. Por exemplo, Rusia é un país de bosques, onde sempre hai un río preto, e o costume de que os convidados se bañen, como apunta o porco cara ao desenlace da historia, compréndese perfectamente se pensamos nas grandes distancias entre un lugar e outro e mais na dura climatoloxía.

Cun argumento moi claro, frases acumulativas, diálogos repetitivos e unha linguaxe áxil e sinxela, Loboferoz dá ás á fantasía. Para alén diso, os personaxes (cabra, vaca, porco, burro, ovella) brillan sobre todo nas escenas humorísticas onde, con enxeño e sentido común, os animais domésticos que representan a inocencia acaban burlando o ruín e vil lobo.
Un universo fabuloso onde a astucia triunfa sobre a brutalidade, e o dereito á vida e mais a harmonía coa natureza acaban por se impor á maldade.

Por medio dunha colaxe moi sintética, que economiza os recursos cromáticos, o ilustrador Chené Gómez destaca os elementos esenciais da historia, e consegue un ambiente minimalista moi efectivo, ao paso que, cos recursos precisos imprime carácter e forza aos personaxes e ao universo en que se desenvolve o relato.
